KMC to enforce strict regulation of billboards

Kohima, October 9 (MExN): In pursuant of section 124 (c) advertisement tax & section I24(d) entertainment/show tax of Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, the erection, exhibition and regulation of hoarding, billboards and outdoor advertisements within the notified jurisdiction of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) will be strictly controlled by KMC to maintain urban aesthetics, public safety and civic order.

This was stated in a notification issued by KMC Chief Executive Officer Alemyapang Longchar.

The following regulatory framework regarding hoarding under the Nagaland Municipal Act is notified for strict compliance: Mandatory prior permission from KMC to put up any hoarding in the municipality area; Collection of Advertisement fees and taxes will be levied by KMC as per applicable; Removal and enforcement powers along with penalties, if a hoarding or advertisement is found to be in contradiction of the Act, the Municipality will invoke its notice of removal and enforce demolition along with penalties as per section 129 of Nagaland Municipal Act 2023.

This notice comes into effect from the dates of issue of this notification.
