Konyak CSOs summons NDPP president Chingwang Konyak over ‘adverse’ FNT remarks

DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): The Konyak civil society organizations has issued a summon letter to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) president & PDA chairman, N Chingwang Konyak for allegedly violating directives of the Union’s official notice.

The summon letter comes in the backdrop of certain remarks made by the NDPP president during the PDA campaign programme for the Lok Sabha general election at Wokha on April 5 wherein he stated that “no participation in the election will not yield any positive outcome” and appealed the Eastern Nagaland “people to have a meeting with the State Government and chart out an amicable solution for the better upliftment of the region.”

“This letter serves as an official summon from the Konyak Civil Society Organizations (CSO) against your recent actions that have contravened the explicit directives set forth by the Konyak Union on 30th March 2024, directing all its citizens not to engage in commentary remarks on the ENPO FNT matter,” the joint summon letter issued by the presidents of Konyak Union Mon, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong and Konyak Students’ Union read.
It alleged that Chingwang Konyak made ‘adverse remarks’ on April 5 at the Wokha election rally, besides making unfavorable comments regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) issue on multiple occasions and repeatedly disregarding the Eastern Nagaland community and the Konyaks in particular.

Terming his actions as “totally unacceptable,” the summon letter further stated, “Your actions not only defy the authority of the Konyak CSO but also brought disgrace and humiliation upon the entire Eastern Nagaland community, particularly the Konyak people whom you represent. Your conduct is unbecoming of a responsible citizen and a leader.”

In this connection, the Konyak CSOs has summoned the NDPP president to appear at the Konyak Union office, Mon district headquarter within 48 hours of receiving the notice to address the aforementioned violations and explain his actions. “Failure to comply with this summon will leave the Konyak CSO with no option but to initiate stern disciplinary action against you,” the summon letter stated.
