Mon Town total lockdown: In or out movement prohibited

Mon, July 27 (MExN): A total lockdown has been enforced in Mon Town from July 27 to August 2, in the light of “certain emerging circumstances” and to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district headquarter.

No ‘in or out’ movement would be permitted during the lockdown period, notified Chumlamo Humtsoe, SDO (Civil) Sadar Mon. 

Movement of public is strictly prohibited except medical emergencies and movement of private vehicles except those permitted, is banned, it said. All business or commercial establishments and shops would remain closed except pharmacies.  

Not more than 20 persons will be permitted in case of funerals, it added, while entry of trucks from Assam carrying essential commodities was permitted only on July 27.

The guidelines were issued following the Mon District Task Force emergency meeting held at the DC’s conference hall, Mon on July 26.  

Office of DC, SP, Banks, Fire & Emergency Services, Health & Family Welfare, Food & Civil Supplies, Power, PHED, Sanitation workers of MTC, Treasury & Accounts, PWD (R&B), Postal Services, Prisons, District Court, IPR, Home Guards & Civil Defence and Para Military Forces are exempted from the purview of the order. 

Requesting the public to comply with the guidelines, the notification said that “any person found violating the order will be penalised under relevant provisions of the law.”
