India has journeyed from ‘darkness to light’: Patton

Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton today said that the tenure of the Modi government will be written in golden words in the history of India.
“This period is becoming a golden era of the "Sankalpp Ki Siddhi" for “Developed India” and “Self-reliant” India,” Patton said while addressing a press conference here today at State BJP Head Office in connection with the nationwide campaign on 11 years completion of BJP-led Union Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the theme "Viksit Bharat Ka Amrit Kaal" and “Seva, Sushasan, Garib Kalyan Ke 11 Saal.”
This era of Modi’s governance has laid a strong foundation for India's future, he said adding that India has embarked on its Amrit Kaal towards becoming a developed nation over the past 11 years.
He said that under Modi leadership, the government has become responsive, responsible, accountable, reform-perform-transform-oriented and participatory.
“Before 2014, India was plagued with corruption, scams and appeasement politics, but today we talk about development, innovation and transformation,” Patton said.

These 11 years have been of development, trust, and transformation.
Earlier, Patton said that benefits from government schemes didn’t reach people; middlemen swallowed the funds. Today, Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) are crediting funds straight into citizens’ accounts.
“Earlier, people feared medical expenses; now, free treatment is available under Ayushman Bharat. Earlier, we were dependent on imports; today, we lead in exports due to Make in India. Earlier, we were among the world’s fragile economies; today, India is on the path to becoming the 4th largest economy,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Under PM Modi’s leadership, India is now capable of taking bold decisions and defining New Normals-including decisive military responses to terrorism.
He also stated that Operation Sindoor is not just a military mission; “it reflects our resolve, courage, and the image of a changing India.”
India is becoming self-reliant in the defense sector- now recognized globally as: "Made in India, Tested in Pakistan, Trusted Worldwide."
Patton also highlighted the various welfare schemes such as PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and many more.
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that since Modi became Prime Minister, “the darkness of corruption has faded and the light of good governance has spread.”
He said that significant and bold decisions taken include: Abrogation of Article 370 from J&K, abolishing Triple Talaq, implementation of GST, and Waqf Bill amendments.
“Looking back at these 11 years of service, good governance, and welfare of the poor, it is clear that India has journeyed from darkness to light, despair to hope, and corruption to good governance,” he said.
3,600 projects worth Rs 44,859 crore approved in NE region
Tourism & Higher Education Minister Temjen Imna Along said that in the past 11 years, the Modi government has turned service into a commitment, good governance into a culture and made security the highest priority.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has embarked on a new journey of development during the Amrit Kaal of a developed India-focusing on service, good governance, and welfare of the poor, Along said adding that at the heart of every scheme by the Modi government lies public welfare, aimed at making the lives of ordinary citizens easier and taking the nation to new heights on the global stage.
Over the past 11 years, under Modi’s leadership, the government has secured borders, strengthened the economy, and brought technology to every citizen, the minister said.
Along said that India demonstrated its resolve by executing Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist bases and airbases in Pakistan.
Under Modi's leadership, decisive policies and enhanced security measures have led to a 70% decline in Naxal incidents, with affected districts reducing significantly, he said.
In 2024, digital transactions reached Rs 24 lakh crore, with UPI accounting for 83% of all digital payments. Mobile users have increased to 116 crore, and internet penetration has expanded to 97 crore users.
He said India's ranking improved from 142nd to 63rd in the Ease of Doing Business index. In 2023-24, over 1.8 lakh new companies were registered, and MSMEs received Rs 2.39 lakh crore in emergency credit, preventing significant non-performing assets.
On rural connectivity, he said that 99% of villages now have road connectivity. Daily highway construction averages stands at 34 km, with 136 Vande Bharat trains operational and 103 railway stations revamped under the Amrit Bharat scheme.
Touching on Northeast Development, the minister said that the 'Rising North East Investors Summit 2025' attracted Rs 4.3 lakh crore in investments.
Insurgency-related incidents have decreased by 64%, he said.
Over 3,600 projects worth Rs 44,859 crore have been approved in the region.
