Kohima, March 6 (MExN): The Nagaland government has notified the schedule for the first phase of the Census of India 2027, announcing that the House Listing and Housing Census in the state will be conducted from July 1 to 30, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Home Department, General Administration Branch-I, the option for self-enumeration will remain operational from June 16 to 30, 2026.
The exercise is being carried out in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (iii) of Rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990, made under the provisions of the Census Act, 1948.
The state government’s notification follows the issuance of Notification No.S.0.99 (E) dated January 7, 2026 by the Government of India in the Ministry of Home Affairs (Office of the Registrar General, India), which was published in the Extraordinary Gazette of India vide Gazette No.89 on the same date.
