10 bands compete in Shreyas Group presents ‘Ticket to Hornbill’- India’s Biggest Band Battle 2024

Nagaland Higher Education & Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along today asserted that “we (Nagaland) should be the music capital of this world.”

Addressing the grand finale of Shreyas Group presents ‘Ticket to Hornbill’- India’s Biggest Band Battle 2024 held at RCEMPA, Jotsoma near Kohima, the minister said “Every month, we should have a beautiful concert of world class in Nagaland.” And if you will, it will happen in Kohima, he said.

We have to be strong. We have to believe in ourselves, he said and called upon the youth to work hard, “and then together, we will make a beautiful Nagaland.”

Touching on the upcoming 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival 2024, he said that under the guidance and leadership of Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, “we have come thus far.”

Today, Nagaland is known throughout the world because of the Hornbill Festival also, he said. Let us be good stewards of our people. Let us be good people to welcome the rest of the country, the rest of the world, our partners from different nations, he said.

As they come to Nagaland, let them have the experience of knowing us as a people, not only traditional and cultural and ancient people, but loving people, kind people, helpful people, and beautiful people. “I wish that we will always resonate unity in all of our work,” he said.

He maintained that the meaning of the Hornbill Festival is not just to make merry, “but it is the strategy of our people to resonate unity.”

10 bands- Salt Rock, Yugen, Project Anonymous, The Prophets, KAPOW, Fifth Note, Paper Sky, The Featherheads, One Girl Shy and Hidden Identity competed for the grand finale.

The jury for the grand finale included Subir Malik, Sonam Kalra, Arpito Gope, Suraj Mani and Moanungsang.

Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister Nagaland also present at the event as guest of honour. Trance Effect, The Muse and Seyie Intrepid performed at the event as guest appearance. The grand finale was chaired by Dr Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) and Imnasenla Racheal as anchor. Welcome address was delivered by TaFMA chairman Theja Meru. 

Ticket to Hornbill-India’s-Biggest Band Battle 2024 is the curtain raiser to the 25th edition of the Hornbill Music Festival, Nagaland.

The grand final event was going on at the time of filling this report.
