Kohima, September 30 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather advisory, warning of heavy and moderate rainfall across the state until October 5. The rains, expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas, could disrupt communication and connectivity.
According to the advisory, Kohima, Niuland, Noklak, and Peren districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall, while the remaining districts will see moderate rainfall under cloudy skies. The lowland and foothill areas, including Dimapur, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, are particularly vulnerable to waterlogging and flash floods due to excessive rainfall.
The NSDMA has urged the public to exercise caution during this period, particularly against lightning strikes and high winds. Additionally, all District Disaster Management Authorities and relevant departments have been asked to stay alert to prevent loss of life and property.
