NBCC hands over ‘Revival Torch’ to AGBCN at youth conference

Chümoukedima, October 9 (MExN): The Association of Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN) began its 5th Biennial Youth Conference here on Thursday at Millennium Hall, WSBAK, Daniel Village, under the theme “Genuine Faith.”

More than 500 delegates and officials representing 43 Gorkha churches across Nagaland are participating in the three-day conference, scheduled from October 9 to 11.

The first day commenced with an opening ceremony featuring a performance by the Youth Department of Nepali Baptist Church, Walford.

Rev Dr Mar Pongener, General Secretary of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), who spoke during the opening session, exhorted the youths on the theme of the “Intersection of Faith in today's world” and, citing Proverbs 3:5-6, advised them to lead responsible lives grounded in faith and Christian values.

Rev Dr K Santabir Rai, Executive Secretary of AGBCN, delivered an exhortation during the programme. Special songs were presented by the Youth Departments of GBC Mon Town and NBC Wokha.

Shishir Lama, Youth Secretary of AGBCN, shared greetings, while the programme was chaired by Shekhar Tamang, Youth Pastor of GBC Naginimora. The praise and worship sessions throughout the three-day conference are being led by GBC Diphupar. Pastor Joseph Chettri of GBF Piphema, the Camp Director of the conference, conducted the orientation session.

A significant highlight of the day was the official handover of the “Revival Torch” by the NBCC to AGBCN.

Receiving the Revival Torch on behalf of the association, Rev Dr Rai expressed gratitude and pledged the association’s commitment to carrying forward the spiritual vision of the revival movement.
