NE Half Marathon in Dibrugarh on Oct 29

Maligaon, October 4 (MExN): The first ever Northeast Half Marathon at Bogibeel Bridge, Dibrugarh is scheduled to be held on October 29. With the objectives of developing northeast, empowering sports and promoting the iconic Tea City of India-Dibrugarh, NF Railway and Innovations India have joined hands to organise the northeast half marathon. The event will be supported by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, SAI, Assam Athletic Association, Assam Police & Vikrun Foundation among others. 

A curtain raiser press conference in this regard was held on October 4 at the Railway Officer’s rest house, Dibrugarh. Rameswar Teli, Minister of State for Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Labour and Employment, Government of India along with Yatendra Kumar, Additional General Manager of NFR and Uttam Prakash, Divisional Railway Manager of Tinsukia gave an insight about the event.

Curator of the event Captain Rahul Bali briefed about the marathon, prize money and trophies to be awarded. 

It was informed that more than 3000 runners from different parts of the world are expected to participate. Prizes worth Rs 6.5 lakh would be given away to the winners in addition to the trophies, medals & merit certificates. 

This event is part of the series of Marathons conducted across NE India. The first marathon was held at Maligaon on February 5 and approximately 3000 runners participated in the race. Prizes worth Rs 11 lakh were distributed to the winners.
