NSL: Barak FC edge Frontier Warriors FC; NUSC dominate 27th United FC

Kohima/Chümoukedima, February 8 (MExN): Frontier Warriors FC (FWFC) put up a spirited performance against league leaders Barak FC in Matchday 4 of the Nagaland Super League (NSL) in Kohima but fell short, while Nagaland United Sports Club (NUSC) delivered a dominant display to defeat 27th United Football Club (27 UFC) in Chümoukedima.

At the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima, a thrilling encounter saw Barak FC narrowly defeat FWFC 3-2, extending their lead at the top of the table.

The match saw early dominance from Barak FC, who capitalised on a mistake from FWFC in the 5th minute. A free kick from Barak’s captain resulted in a rebound goal from Toka Achumi, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. However, FWFC equalised in the 31st minute through Dangmei.

Barak FC regained the advantage just before halftime with a 42nd-minute strike from Kevisanyu, making it 2-1 at the break.
FWFC came out strong in the second half and equalised in the 75th minute through Vishal, assisted by Vinoto. However, Barak FC sealed the victory in the 87th minute with a counterattack, where substitute Joy Sana finished with a left-footed shot to make it 3-2. FWFC is still searching for their first win of the season.

Captain, Barak FC Captain Kevisanyu was adjudged the Player of the Match for his commanding presence in midfield and scoring the crucial second goal.

The encounter at Chümoukedima Football Stadium between NUSC and 27UFC, however, was one-sided, with the former dominating proceedings with an emphatic 4-0 win. 

NUSC controlled possession and kept 27 UFC on the back foot with relentless attacking play, with a goal in first half and there others in the second half. 

NUSC’s Nisede was named Player of the Match for his superb hat-trick. The fourth goal from NUSC came from the boots of Wetash.
