Kohima, September 18 (MExN): An emergency meeting of teachers appointed before the RTE Act was held at the CANNSEA office premises in Kohima on Friday, during which a Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) was formed to pursue the case with elected representatives and the Chief Minister of Nagaland for exemption of Pre-RTE teachers from the NTET examination.
The meeting, called by the All Nagaland School Teachers' Association (ANSTA), was attended by teachers from 15 districts, except Noklak and Longleng. Altogether, about 600 to 700 Pre-RTE teachers participated in the meeting, stated an update received here.
The house unanimously resolved to form JCC of Pre-RTE teachers, headed by Kezhalezo Solo of Kohima as Convenor, Chingwang Konyak of Mon district as Co-Convenor, Sherin Keppen of Chümoukedima district as Treasurer, along with two members from each district. The house also unanimously resolved to collect and contribute an amount of Rs 1,000 each from every affected teacher.
Kasheto Sumi, President, ANSTA, delivered the welcome address. During the business session, teachers were given time to express their views, options and suggestions. Pekinto Y Jimo, General Secretary, ANSTA, answered queries raised by the teachers and delivered the concluding statement.
