Public has ‘no enemies with any group or govt’: EKU

Condemns alleged drone attacks, cites civilian casualties

Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU), on Saturday issued a statement condemning alleged aerial drone attacks by Indian security forces on Eastern Konyak public villages, claiming multiple incidents of civilian casualties, injuries and widespread trauma since July 2025.

In a statement signed by General Secretary K Akham Honwang and President PM Aman, the EKU urged security forces to distinguish between armed cadres and innocent civilians, asserting that the public “has no enemies with any group or government.”

The EKU alleged that Indian security forces have repeatedly deployed “numan vehicle combat drones” in civilian areas, resulting in deaths, serious injuries and poisoning from bomb releases.

According to the statement, on July 13, 2025, a drone attack reportedly occurred in the Hoyat field area near a village during dark hours, leaving many people sick due to poisoning and rendering the spot unable to cultivate. On October 20, 2025, another drone attack took place in the early hours in Khammoi village, affecting the entire village and causing deaths and serious injuries. Most recently, on October 3, 2026, Indian security forces allegedly attacked Langkho village, injuring two civilians, including a nine-year-old girl, when a bomb exploded inside a house.

The EKU claimed that the Eastern Konyak public does not consider their area to belong to either India or Burma, and alleged that the Burmese government has permitted Indian military operations in the so-called artificial border area.

The union also appealed to Naga national workers, questioning why they have not listened to public voices to restrain attacks and firing with any government and to settle peace and stability in public areas if they truly work for the people.

“They should understand the own people conditions,” the EKU said. “The Naga leaders should understand why innocent people are facing the traumatized situation every time. What will be the fruit of the tolerance of such ugly situation in the name of Naga right?”

The EKU appealed to Naga national workers to cease all forms of attack and, if the public is not related to their activities, to continue from barren areas where there are no innocent people.

“Enough is enough. Time to understand and time to change the old. Your Naga public is going to finish the life by Indian, Burma and the Naga factional crisis,” the statement warned. “To the Naga leader: Save your own family, protect your own village.”

The EKU had previously declared its position publicly on November 27 and 28, 2025, openly stating to Indian security forces and Naga national workers that the public is innocent and should be clearly understood as distinct from armed cadres.
