Wokha, September 12 (MExN): District Health Society Wokha in collaboration with 17th Assam Rifles Bhandari organised a Reproductive Child Health Camp (RCH) at Community Health Centre Bhandari on September 12.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Abenthung Murry, District Tuberculosis Officer, NTEP Wokha emphasised on the importance of Tuberculosis screening, stated a press release from Chief Medical Officer’s Office Wokha.
He informed on the symptoms of TB such as cough or fever for more than two weeks, weight loss or loss of appetite, blood in sputum, chest pain or breathlessness for more than two weeks and history of contact with TB patients. Dr Murry advised the public to seek medical treatment if TB symptoms appear and informed on the free treatment available at designated health facilities in the district.
Mhonbeni Ezung, District Programme Manager (NHM) explained on the importance of RCH and its impact on pregnant women, mother and child health. The Bhandari Town Council Chairman, Khonthungia Odyuo expressed his appreciation to both the CMO medical team and 17th Assam Rifles for providing the free health services to the community. The health camp commenced with invocation by Rev Longshi Lotha, Senior Pastor, Bhandari Town Baptist Church.
Earlier, Chairperson of the programme, Dr Lydia Tsopoe, Medical Officer, Bhandari CHC, welcomed the participants to the health camp. She extended her gratitude to Major Hussain who led the 17th Assam Rifles team for his support and also Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha for taking the initiative to organise the health camp at Bhandari CHC.
Free health services such as General OPD, Obs and Gynae, Eye, Dental, ENT, Malaria and HIV Screening, TB screening, Chest X-Ray, generation of CMHIS card, non-communicable diseases screening etc. were made available to the public. Free medicines and IEC leaflets on JSSK, NCD, HPV etc were distributed to the participants.
