Tening, June 7 (MExN): A joint preservation declaration programme was held at the Meguiki River main bridge with EAC Tening, Ihoilung Chuilo on June 5. The programme was organised by Tening Village Youth Organization and Nsong Youth Organization.

As per the DIPR report, while declaring a one-kilometer-long preservation area open, EAC Chuilo applauded the youth organization for taking the initiative to protect fish and their habitats from overexploitation, which can lead to a decline in fish population and disrupt the natural ecosystem.

He urged both the Nsong village and Tening village youth organisations to prohibit all forms of fishing in the designated Khalun preservation area.

The village youth organization also passed a resolution to prohibit all types of fishing in the conservation area. Any individual or group that violates the resolution will face severe consequences, including imposing a fine of Rs 10,000, they added. The preservation area extends from Nchum giu (main bridge) to Ntiang giu (hanging bridge).

Other who spoke at the events includes Tening village council chairman and youth president of Tening and Nsong village, Gbs, and Range officers.
