Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Kyong Students’ Union (KSU) today demanded clarifications from the State over the Kyong community’s premier festival ‘Tokhu Emong’ missing from the government’s list of Restricted Holidays for calendar 2012. A press note was issued by Subenthung Kithan, President KSU.
“In pursuance to the government of Nagaland for declaring of government holidays list for the calendar year 2012 published in some local dailies/Media on 25th November 2011 under the list of Restricted Holidays for government servants of Nagaland, the Kyong Students’ Union (KSU) appeal to the government of Nagaland that Tokhu Emong festival of Lothas is not included in the list,” the note from the union said today.
The community celebrates Tokhu Emong on November 7 every year and has been included in the state government’s list of Restricted Holidays ‘since many years back’ the KSU said. “Therefore, the union asks the government as to why Tokhu Emong is not included in the Restricted Holidays for government servants of Nagaland,” the KSU stated.
