DIMAPUR, JANUARY 22 (MExN): The annual sports week of Unity College Dimapur was held in two venues- college campus and DDSC from January 19 to 21 under the theme ‘Together We Excel.’
In the inaugural programme, Dr Lichumo Enie, Principal of Unity College delivered a speech encouraging the students to actively participate with spirit of sportsmanship and enjoy the event together. It was followed by the Torch Lighting Ceremony and Oath Taking led by Deepkumar Singh, Sports Secretary, UCSC.
The three-day event witnessed competitions amongst the five teams - Dover, Panama, Prodigies, Vagator and Windsor. The various indoor and outdoor sport included basketball, carom, chess,cricket, football, high jump, long jump, obstacles race, penalty shootout, shot put, table tennis, tug of war and volley ball.
The last day witnessed the finals of the sport event. The spectators were also enthralled by the Dance Club with a special performance. The prizes were distributed whereinteam Dover was declared as the overall champion and the Best Disciplined team was bagged by Prodigies. The vote of thanks was delivered by Meribemo, Asst. Sports Secretary, UCSC and concluded the sports week with the College Pledge.
