DIMAPUR, JANUARY 31 (MExN): NSCN (IM) Vice- Chairman Tongmeth Wangnao on Friday asserted that for more than 27 years, the NSCN (IM) has been engaged in dialogue with the Government of India, standing firm on the truth behind the Naga political movement.
He expressed disappointment over what he described as ‘unethical conduct’ by Government of India agencies, which, according to him, have created many enemies behind the Naga political talks.
Addressing the 46th Raising Day of the NSCN (IM) held at Camp Hebron, Wangnao urged the Naga people to remain vigilant and resolute in their pursuit of political self-determination. “We should put on the whole armor of God, and stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might,” he said.
The Vice-Chairman also reminded the gathering of the importance of the Naga people’s place in the world. "We must continue to pursue a solution that is acceptable and honorable, in line with our legitimate rights, and in recognition of our unique Naga history," he stated, underscoring the significance of the Framework Agreement and its alignment with Naga political aspirations.
Reflecting on the past, Wangnao recounted the challenges faced by the NSCN (IM) and how the group overcame them. He expressed pride in the NSCN’s success in justifying its political movement on international platforms, including becoming a member of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO).
He credited the international recognition as a significant factor that strengthened their negotiations with the Government of India, culminating in the signing of the Framework Agreement that recognizes the Naga nation’s sovereign rights.
Calling for continued faith in the divine connection under the banner of “Nagalim for Christ,” Wangnao urged the Naga people to work with integrity, acknowledging God's power and will, and reaffirmed that with God on their side, no force could stand against them.
