What it takes to walk the runway
New Delhi, September 22 (IANSlife) A runway model must have a good body, but more importantly she must have confidence, attitude, style, grace and versatility
IANSlife spoke to the jury who selected fresh faces for the upcoming Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week (LMIFW) SS'20 to find out what it takes to be a runway model. The 34th edition of India's biggest fashion event will be held from October 9 to 13 at the National Stadium in the capital.
*Payal Jain, Jury: It's in the attitude
Arresting looks and personality count for more than a pretty face when it comes to picking a model. Good looks help for sure, but it doesn't stop there. It has a lot to do with your attitude, how you carry yourself and your confidence. I have seen women of different ages, sizes and shapes. Some have been short; other plus sized. Some were young, some old. I believe all are beautiful. But finally, it's the attitude that counts.
*Sunil Sethi, President FDCI: Inclusive Diversity
This season, LMIFW is all about "My Fashion My Tribe", and "My Fashion My Vibe"; it's all-inclusive. After 20 years, there are no height or weight restrictions when it comes to choosing the models. And the response has been terrific. Nearly 400 girls came for the FDCI auditions in Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi, not just from these cities but also from Shillong, Jaipur, Jabalpur, Chandigarh and Panipat. We have shortlisted 38 models in all. They include petite girls, transgenders and plus-sized models. I don't want to say any more; you will see our selection on the ramp.
*Anjana Bhargav, Jury: Ability to carry off any ensemble
There are five things that a model needs to master before showing up for an audition. She must have a good body, of course, but more importantly she must have confidence, attitude, style, grace and versatility, or the ability to carry off whatever is given to her. That last factor is very important.
