Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima while exhorting the participants said, “What we eat, so we become.” Eating of junk and genetically modified food, he reminded, leads to obesity and bad health, according to a press release from Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, the Bishop’s Secretary. He noted that natural and organic food keeps one healthy.   “The food one eats has a bearing on one's state of mind and health. So also in our spiritual, mental, emotional life and family life when one is fed with healthy thought, positive thinking, wholesome relationship, one builds integral and wholesome personality and family life,” the Bishop said.   “When a family is fed with Word of God, personal and community prayer, the sacraments, open and frank sharing and communication, time spent together chatting, relaxing and sharing, we build up healthy family, which in turn build up healthy society,” he added.   Rev. Fr. Carolus Neisalhou, Vicar General of the Diocese of Kohima officiated at the Holy Eucharistic celebration. During his homily, he said that fidelity gives strength of family life. “Fidelity means holding on to God, who revealed Himself in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Holding on to God is made possible through one’s parents, who are created in the image and likeness of God and who continue to transmit the same image and likeness to their children by the power of God,” he said. Rev. Fr. Carolus added that couples’ life is distinguished by love, which in turn produces its fruits: joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, even in the midst of unbearable circumstances that family faces. “These fruits make family life joyful and healthy.” The special rosary prayer, worship songs were conducted during the programme.
