Four held for extortion

Morung Express News Dimapur | July 23   Four persons were arrested in Dimapur today for illegal monetary collection. The four were arrested in two separate incidents at Duncan Basti and Riverbelt colony. According to the West Police Station, two men, stated to be cadres of the GPRN/NSCN were arrested today at around 2:30 pm as they were handing out ‘Information Slips’ (demand chit) to shops located at Duncan Basti. The two were identified by the police as ‘Under Secretary’ Daniel Chishi (43 years) and ‘Corporal’ Osin Momin, residents of Kushiabil and Padum Pukhuri, respectively. The police confiscated 9 leaflets of ‘Information Slips’ and 25 counter foils of the stated ‘Information Slips’ from the duo.

  In another similar incident, two men, who were stated to be cadres of the ‘National People’s Government of Nagaland (NPGN), NNC (Non Accord)’ were arrested at Riverbelt colony. West PS informed that the duo was in the process of collecting money from shops. They had initially issued ‘Information Slips’ to the shops and had returned to collect the amount stipulated, it was added. They were identified as Ato Tuccu and Tokavi Assumi. Police recovered 5 cash receipts and 2 letter heads allegedly issued by the ‘Transport Kilonser’ of the NPGN.
