Grace W Ezung, a 22-year-old civil service aspirant from Yonchucho Village and resident of Wokha Town, was crowned Miss Wokha 2017 on November 18 at a glittering ceremony held at the Local Ground, Wokha . Ezung was chosen from a field of 8 contestants at the contest held after a gap of three years. ‘Enhancing Lives Through Beauty’ was the theme this year.   Reigning Miss Wokha, Dr. Abeni Khuvung, who won in 2013 handed over the title to Ezung. Liyingbeni Tungoe and Lorenbeni Yanthan were adjudged 1st and 2nd runners up.   The contestants were judged based on their performances in the four competitive rounds - Ethnic Wear, Designer Round, Casual Wear and Formal Round (Evening Gown).   The panel of judges included former beauty queen Tiarenla Jamir, senior news reader AIR Jonas Yanthan, author Mhalo Ezung, academician Zubeno Mozhui and entrepreneur Benthungo Kithan.   The newly crowned beauty impressed the judges and won the audience with her answers and performance. She considers her mother as her role model.   Jonjibeni Ngullie won the Best Ethnic Wear sub-title, Marina Yanthan – Miss Beautiful Skin, Lorenbeni Yanthan - Miss Talent, Rikhyolo Yanthan - Miss Congeniality and Liyingbeni Tungoe - Miss Photogenic.   During the musical interludes Singers Rebecca Ezung, Meribeni Patton and Lorina Khuvung performed, while Thunglamo serenaded the top five finalists. Zippy Crew, a popular dance group, also gave a power packed performance.   Earlier, chief guest of the ceremony, Commissioner & Secretary, Irrigation and Flood Control, N. Hushili Sema called upon the women of Wokha to be agents of change. According to Sema, Naga women were not fully empowered in the true essence of the word and stressed on the need for women to be harbinger of peace and harmony. Beauty, she said, is a creation of God; every person is beautiful but true beauty should come from inside.
