Wokha District Administration and DLCW-MSK organised Beti Bachao Beti Padhao week at Deputy Commissioners Conference Hall, Wokha on January 23. The programme was attended by adolescent girls and Bharat Guides. Thungbeni Kikon, Case Worker, One Stop Centre-Sakhi dwelled on the topic POSCO Act while EAC (P) Vitolu Chishi spoke on the importance of girl child and on the significance of National Girl child week, where he stated that the day aims at promoting awareness about the rights of girl child and to provide opportunities and support to a girl child. District Level Centre for Women- Mahila Shakti Kendra, Kohima, State Resource Centre for Women, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board and Department of Social Welfare celebrated BBBP National Girl Child Week from January 21 to 25. They conducted various activities- Balika Manches- awareness on women centric schemes, distribution of safety kits to Angawadi and ASHA workers, distribution of masks to student union members, community education- distribution of school kits and notebooks to students and second phase baking class. In continuation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) week-long celebration and National Girl Child Day 2021, Local Champions were felicitated at GB's Hall Ahthibung and Heningkunglwa under BBBP Peren District. Dr Vezhokholu Khamo, MO Ayush, PHC Ahthibung was awarded the Best Performing Female Doctor while Sorangle from New Beisumpui was awarded the Best Performing ASHAs. They distributed gift hampers containing nutritional food items and sensitized on POCSO ACT.
Laskiur Village Baptist Church was dedicated by Rev R Thsankiu, Pastor, Shamator Town Baptist Church on January 24.
