NF Railway organise Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign at Ghy station

  MALIGAON, SEPTEMBER 23 (MExN): Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain took part in a Shramdaan (physical participation) programme at the Guwahati railway station on September 23. The Minister, accompanied by senior NF Railway officials led by the General Manager Chahatey Ram, undertook a cleaning exercise in the station premises as part of the nationwide Swachhata hi Sewa (Cleanliness is Service) programme, which was launched on September 15.   A press release from the Chief Public Relations Officer, NF Railway quoted Gohain as stating that the Indian Railways has taken Swachhata as a mission and effort being made towards achieving that goal.   The release informed that in line with the campaign objective, the NF Railway had begun a massive cleanliness drive in its five divisions on September 15 with GM Chahatey Ram and subordinates “offering ‘Shramdaan’ at Kamakhya Railway station.”   The NF Railways has also roped in Assamese movie stars - Jayanta Das & Barasha Rani Bishoya besides engaging other media platforms to promote the virtue of observing cleanliness in trains and railway stations.   The release made mention of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling upon the people to begin and participate in the campaign from September 15 till Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.   “During his Mann Ki Baat address on August 27, 2017, he called upon people to create an environment of cleanliness in the entire country so that the coming 2nd October, the third anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission and Gandhi Jayanti, can be celebrated in a befitting manner. He urged all NGOs, schools, colleges, social, cultural and political leaders, corporates, government officials, Collectors and sarpanches, to accelerate Swachhta activities during the period.”
