Zunheboto, September 20 (MExN): To celebrate the International Year of Millet, KVK Zunheboto, Nagaland University conducted the 3rd millet recipe contest at Lumami village on September 20.  Competitors from six SHGs of Lumami village prepared a number of millet items such as pancakes, cupcakes, biscuits, pakora, steamed millet, laddu etc. Cash award and certificates were given to five best SHGs, stated a press release. 

Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK, Nagaland University was the chief host. He exhorted the gathering to reintroduce millet in their daily diet as it has multiple advantages over other crops and illustrated a number of health issues which can be manage by taking millets in the daily diet. The programme was chaired by Narola Anichari, Technical officer (Home science) KVK, NU. It concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Visakho Shunyu, Chief Technical Officer (GPB/AGR) KVK, NU.
