Dear readers, these are some practical and concrete suggestions on what proactive measures the Government of Nagaland needs to take while addressing the electricity crisis in the State

•    The government of the day has inherited a system that has been indifferent and callous when it comes to the condition of the electricity in our state. The Nagaland government is crippled by the syndicate system that is prevailing in all the departments with the active involvement of officers that are working for their own interest. If the Nagaland government is really serious about the electricity crisis, it must start by breaking apart the syndicates that exists in all the departments. Unless this syndicates are dealt with, the government will be held to ransom. After this, the government must start making some long-term and short-term investment in the power sector.

•    Enforce Discipline .Only disciplinary staffs can achieve efficiency service and maintain optimum revenue surplus. Today the department seems to be run and handled by selfish government servants. I think Government should urgently revamp the commodity department like the power department.

•    The Power Dept. Should more invest more funds to purchase lands to expand the existing Power transformers with latest technologies available in the market in Indian industries and also to have government and private sectors mou's to be signed for making more solar power grid plants and biogas plants run by bamboo burning based and garbage burning based plants.

•    Privatisation of power distribution and power maintenance are the only solution. Government servants cannot manage an essential utility department like power department. In fact only most of the power department employees are retiring prosperously!! Leaving the department in "Total Disorders"...
