GPRN/NSCN & NNC/FGN to reconcile, unite unconditionally

Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): Describing it as an “unprecedented positive chapter in the history of the Naga political struggle”, the GPRN/NSCN and the NNC/FGN decided to “reconcile and unite unconditionally”. This was informed in a joint press note issued by the MIP, GPRN/NSCN & Rali Wali, FGN. According to the joint statement the decision to reconcile and unite unconditionally was made by the top Naga leaders from GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN on 15th July 2010 at Monyukshu town, Konyak Region. The historic meeting between the top leaders culminated into making a solemn pledge and a Joint Declaration in the interest of the Nagas, the joint press note informed. 

“A triumph of the Naga spirit seeking new meaning to our tumultuous political journey and also, a fulfillment of the Naga people’s desire to seek a common approach based on recognition and entrenchment of our inalienable right to exist as a nation with our own political identity. It was indeed a historic moment borne out of the common desire to raise the Naga political struggle to higher ground and onto logical conclusion”, was how the two groups described the historic occasion.

As part of the joint meeting of the top leadership, a pledge and a joint declaration was also made on the occasion. The pledge stated that the two groups were uniting in principle unconditionally. Significantly the joint declaration stated that it was “upholding and implementing the commitment of the Covenant of Reconciliation signed by Brig. (Retd.) S. Singnya, S.S Khaplang and Isak Chishi Swu. The joint declaration also resolved to evolve a common platform with equal participation to expedite final settlement of the Naga political issue.

PLEDGE

We do, hereby, solemnly pledge ourselves before God and the Naga people to unite in principle unconditionally. We shall remain committed bound by the spirit and principle of the Covenant of Reconciliation, on this day the 15th of July, 2010 at Monyakshu conclave.

JOINT DECLARATION

Whereas, upholding and implementing the commitment of the Covenant of Reconciliation signed by Brig. (Retd.) S. Singnya, the President of the NNC/FGN, messers S.S Khaplang and Isak Chishi Swu, Chairman of the GPRN/NSCN and NSCN/GPRN respectively, and in response to the aspiration of the Naga people, the FGN and the GPRN, on this day the 15th July 2010, do hereby commit ourselves to unite in principle unconditionally at the Monyakshu conclave and unanimously resolve to evolve a common platform with equal participation of our people to expedite final settlement of the Naga political issue.
