Health department conducts orientation workshop on monkeypox

Kohima, August 5 (MExN): A one day orientation workshop was conducted for the District Trainers on Monkey Pox at the IDSP Conference Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, on August 5.

On the occasion, Dr Thorhusie Katiry, Mission Director, National Health Mission spoke on the need for preparedness and response to monkeypox in view of the detection of confirmed cases in the country, informed a press release.

He urged the district functionaries apply their experiences from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in their response towards monkeypox, with emphasis on the need for early detection, isolation, testing and treatment, surveillance and also the need to create awareness amongst the general public.

The resource persons for the workshop included State Nodal Officer, IDSP, Dr Nyanthung Kikon who covered the topic ‘Overview & Epidemiology,’ Dr John Kemp, on ‘Sample Collection & Testing,’ Dr Imti Jamir, on ‘Clinical Management’ and Dr Bernice, on ‘Targeted Interventions & Linkages,’ the release informed.
