In Naga society, do you see the rampant ‘misinformation’ as a serious problem when trying to access important and authentic information to make informed decisions? Why? Give Reasons.

•    Yes, In a place where Nagaland where many people do not read, they depend on hearsay for their news and information. This is a dangerous trend because they become vulnerable to misinformation. There is a lot of misinformation taking place in our society.
•    There is a lot of rampant and unchecked misinformation. Soon our society will be filled only with lies.
•    Very much yes. Naga people are a oral society and so we depend on what is communicated verbally. But with the onset of social media a lot of misinformation is occurring because the media channels of social media are not trained to filter out fake news from real ones. The people in social media channels are not trained journalists and cannot differentiate rumors and bona fide news. So misinformation is randomly happening at a massive scale. 
•    Yes. We know that many Nagas do not read and don’t even scan through the newspapers. This kind of ignorance is unhealthy and we end up listening to gossips and lies. The gossiping has multiplied due to social media. Even educated people are succumbing to gossips because they have become too lazy to even check the newspapers.

•    No, sensible people will always find a way to get reliable and authentic information before making any decisions. This is called common sense.
