In order for Clean Election Movement in Nagaland to become a powerful agent of change, what needs to change first and why?

Election System:
•    Huge amount of spending during election time should stop. It always goes in both ways, the voters should stop expecting or demanding money during election and the candidate should also stop.

•    Proxy votes need to be filtered thoroughly using up to date technology. Alternative ways of voting in line of postal ballot or home visits by poll officials be given to the voters in advance especially in polling stations which are deemed as hyper sensitive. Rules of election are quite flexible although tough in theory.

•    The system needs to be changed. Link voter ID with Aadhaar. That will solve 80% of the present problems.

Voters (Public):
•    Fundamental Rights should be given to all citizens to cast own vote.

•    The root of all corruption is common man.

•    Public should not sell their vote and agree to do proxy voting, there should only be one person- one vote, voters should vote for the capable candidate irrespective of political parties and if they don't perform then do not vote for them in the next election. Because we sell our votes, the elected leaders have to make money by looting coffers of the state

•    In times of a mass global awareness, we Nagas have proven once again that integrity and self respect is a thing of the past. One cannot help but wonder if the cry for development within the state is just a cover up for the real agenda in people's hearts and minds. Money wins once again. Clean Election is a farce.

•    Running after money is the root of corruption in the system.

•    Stop accepting money.

•    Voter’s mind set need to be changed

•    Our legislatures and parliaments are elected by, for, and for the people. We are fortunate to have the constitutional right to vote. We take it for granted, but the constitution guarantees us the right to vote for whom we want and to change our minds.

Every vote counts. Though it seems like an endless sea of people are there to vote, every vote counts. When the national attitude changes from thinking “my vote doesn't make a difference,” then the numbers increase and a multitude of people voting will make the difference. The responsibility lies on every individual.

•    Just looking by the violence now I'm scared and ashamed that this is the land of Christianity. Public must change his or her humour of what is election for! It's like a division and rule hope and pray that nothing will happen tomorrow.

•    Absolutely public aka the voters are responsible as we see the prevalent situation in our state. The audacity to demand money to vote in favour of a candidate is appalling. And mostly those from rural areas are worse.

•    Voters mindset should be changed and politicians should stop offering money, the Church has to play a much bigger and proactive role along with the youths.

•    It starts with the voters. If we become clean, people with vision and concern for public will win.

Candidates (Politicians):
•    A false candidate n undeserving candidate can influenced the public to bring hatred between one another by influencing them with fake promise and as human nature money rules so many people fall into the trap.

•    Rich players dominate the arena, thereby leaving no choice for the humble honest.

•    Not to contest with money power but similar to US election where contesting candidates have to debate thoroughly before the public

Others:
•    Presiding Officers and polling official should be brought from outside the state, because they are allowing proxy voters to cast vote. Biometric voting system can bring a great change in CEM.

•    Ban conversion and missionaries.

•    All the above points are valid but we also need to weed out all the bogus voters from the electoral list.

•    Looking forward to biometric voting system with double verification in the form of OTP or something, it’s the era of technology after all.

•    Voters need to change first. Nagas still don't know manipulating the electric meter box is wrong, lobbying for backdoor job is wrong, manipulating documents for availing govt scholarship is wrong, selling of votes is wrong, etc... We need to start from the basics. Church has a big role to play in it.

•    This won’t change anything.

•    What if we use a technology like voting through biometric/OTP authentication from phone & PC in a short specific allotted voting time.

•    Aadhaar based fingerprint system of voting

•    No need for election in Nagaland. That's what.

•    Involvement of village council.

•    Election System must play the main role to curb and make a transition from Dirty Election to Clean Election as they have the full power to conduct one man, one vote because 1). Voters cannot, because there are so many influences at every level, could be from intoxicants, power of money and illegal forces etc 2). Candidates (politicians) cannot because there are lots who introduced dirty game directly to the voters themselves 3). Others can be more.

•    All of the above; for sure.

•    Clean Election slogan is in itself the dirtiest Slogan ever.
