Is installing an ‘opposition-less’ government in Nagaland a mockery of democracy? Give reasons

 Yes:
•    Yes, it's an absolute mockery to our land and people as well. It's crystal clear that politicians are only contesting elections for personal gain and nothing else. They just want to be in the favour of the ruling party so that in some way they can accommodate their greed and progress. It simply shows how weak our legislatures are in actually running the government. But this fault all lies with the public who have traded the welfare of our land and people for some temporary material gain. Public isn't electing a representative but granting an individual the kingship.

•    Yes, it is a mockery. Because in a democracy opposition is a must as much as the ruling. A govt without the opposition becomes more or less like a dictatorship or like a monarch.

•    More corruption is sure.

•    Is mockery . Is shows dishonesty.

•    No less than dictatorship

•    Yes, because it was heard that strong Opposition make strong Democratic Government. I don't know how far it is true.

•    An opposition-less government is a clear manifestation of thirst for power and not to serve the interest of the people. Democracy best works with checks and balances. Representatives can unite on issues like Naga Solution but the working of the day to day government requires vigilance by the opposition. Opposition-less government is not only a mockery of democracy but also of our Naga people and its intellects.

•    Then why conduct election, a mockery to females also. Every political party has and agenda and ideology.

•    Because no room for check and balance.

•    Opposition less government make no sense.

•    Opposition is a way to represent the oppressed, however, the general population as well as the elected representatives are a mockery to democratic ethics as directly or indirectly each party is obsessed with money and power

•    Oppositionless government means dictatorship to elected members

•    An emphatic yes for me, without opposition there is no checks and balance which is the corner stone of a democratic government.

•    Oppositionless government anywhere in the world is a threat to democracy...it is an act of mockery against human principles and complete self-destruction.

•    Because there will not be any checks and balances.

•    Without opposition, it's like a dictator regime ruling upon fearless and brainless folks.

•    Modi agrees to have an opposition for smooth & transparent running of a country by the government. So does every leader, who truly stands for the welfare of the people. So in my opinion, it is utterly a mockery to have an opposition-less government in a state that is run by democratic government. If we look back at 13th NLA, we had opposition-less government and to quote that "did Nagaland achieve anything the opposition-less govt has promised", no, there was no breakthrough in Naga political issue and the demand for "Frontier Nagaland" by ENPO grew larger, dividing Nagas into two. To question all the failure of govt & failing to work for the welfare of the people was that of the absence of strong opposition party. If Nagaland is heading for another opposition-less govt than we will soon witness differences among class of people, as the govt in power would have no objection in doing anything they deem is right which would only lead to displacement among society, whether it be in employment, development, extortion, crime and whatever is anti-social to a civilized society. A country or state needs a strong opposition to keep check on the ruling govt and raise voice for the voiceless. Nagas don't want another term of opposition-less govt, where elected leaders do whatever they want completely ignoring the state and it's people, we don’t want a leader that's money and power driven. We want truthful leader, a leader that would work for the welfare of the state, leaders that will stand their ground and boldly question the govt.

•    No check and balance system from the governing body leading to corruption of every form, with less accountable and less transparent government, which is degrading the very spirit of democratic principles in our land.

•    It gives a free hand to those in power to indulge in corrupt practices randomly without being answerable to anyone.

 No:

 Others:
•    I don't care as long as we the people don't change our mindset.. We are all just keyboard warriors.

•    The people wanted to live oppressed (voiceless), so they voted. No complaining to be made.

•    The reason is State like Nagaland we need both criticisms (negative, positive) for development as well as good governance.

•    Don't ask this question to the people. You better ask to the elected MLAs, specially to NCP LEGISLATORS.

•    Installing an 'opposition-less' government in Nagaland has never been an intention of the popular vote but since the electors themselves have not protested the choice of such reality by the popularly elected, mockery of democracy per se is an overstatement. If the democratic principle of a popular government by the choices of voters had been a clear cut mandate, then the current reality is indeed a mockery of "By the people, Of the people and For the people" instead of "Buy the people, Off the people and Far the people". We continue to set newer standards of democratice practices far beyond what has been propounded over the years and we can be proud of such achievements going forward and continue to pat ourselves on the back.
