Kamakhya–Gandhidham Express upgraded

Guwahati, March 28 (MExN): The North East Frontier Railway (NFR) on March 28 upgraded the Kamakhya – Gandhidham Express (15668/15667) from a conventional coach to LHB coaches.   Developed in Germany, Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches are 23.54m in length and 3.24m wide meaning a higher passenger capacity. LHB coaches are made of stainless steel while the interiors are made of aluminium making them lighter compared to conventional rakes.   Designed to operate at high speeds of up to 200 km/h, the LHB coaches, at the same time, are considered to be "anti-telescopic" – meaning the coaches do not turn over or flip in case of a collision (chiefly head-on).   The composition of 15668/15667 Kamakhya-Gandhidham express is one AC Hot Buffet Car, one  AC two tier,  four AC three tier, ten Sleeper class and two Luggage cum Generator Car, according to NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Pranav Jyoti Sharma.   NFR already has 9 LHB rakes already running to different destination, Sharma added.
