Konyak church decries cult

Dimapur, September 13 (MExN): The Konyak Baptist church today issued a clear statement saying there is no “denomination conflict”, rather against certain religious interests who are “below the belt of Church standard and Christian doctrines.” The Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB) was referring to a recent surge in the activities of a reported cult group in Mon district.

The KBBB said it wants to neither debate nor provoke anyone “but to make aware of the false teachers appeared as wolves in sheep clothed to lure the Church members and disturb social harmony.”

“The church is not interested to argue with the hypocrites who are beating below the belt of Church standard and Christian doctrines. It is not a surprise for the church to face the heresy comes out of its members since it has been happened in almost all ages of the Church history and the Bible had already warned us to be on guard of such false teachings and hypocrites,” stated the church in its statement.

The KBB referred to a N Yahoi, said to be the leader if the reported cult,  as such a frustrated person who was used by her local church (Wangti Baptist Church) for a couple of years as ‘free missionary.’

“But when the church found that she was drifted away from Christian doctrine and church practises, the local church revoked her commissioned as free missionary on 20th November 2003. Hence, the KBBB do not have any hand on her commission as claimed in Nagaland Post dated 9th September 2010, but KBBB had restricted church pulpit to Miss N. Yahoi until and unless she realized her heretic teachings and confused spirit,” the KBBB stated.

Yahoi moved around without the consent of the church and propagated false teachings and created confusions through ‘unauthentic teachings mix-up with false spiritualism, narrow nationalism, hypocritic prayer centres and practises of anti-social elements.’

The church associations and the Konyak Theological Association had been trying to correct her in many ways and occasions to bring her into the church. “Yet she continued to lure the simple Church members into her fold with false promises and caused division in few Churches and communities. Basing on all facts of her unethical spiritual life and practises the KBBB had declared N. Yahoi as heresy during its annual council in 2005. Hence the church shall continue to defend the faith and correct the false teaching,” KBBB stated.

The Konyak churches don’t believe in fighting and violence against any person or community physically, it said, “but we stand against the spirit that causes division, hated and confusion of faith.” “We still keep the door of the church open for simple people who had been misguided from the true Gospel of Christ and His Church.”

The KBB clarified that there is no “denomination conflict” in Mon district as reported in a local daily dated September 9th 2010. The false teachers do not belong to any recognized denomination/religion but they are the wolves amongst the sheep and trouble makers of the church and society.”

The Baptist church added that “all should be on guard of such people and their teachings in one’s own society; we should stand firm in our faith and pray for those people who are being drifted away by the deceiving spirit.” The KBBB said to be contacted for any further details on this matter.
