Lecture on ‘Naga Politics: Issues and Problems’ held

A special lecture on the topic ‘Naga Politics: Issues and Problems’ was held at Public College, Dimapur on April 9.

Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): The Department of Political Science, Public College, Dimapur, conducted a special lecture on the topic “Naga Politics: Issues and Problems” at the College premises on April 9. The lecture aimed to provide insights into the complex political landscape of Nagaland, addressing its significant issues and challenges, the college stated in a press release. 

Resource person, Prof H John Sema, former Head of Department of Political Science and former Dean, School of Social Sciences at Nagaland University, delivered a discourse on the topic. With his expertise in the field, Prof Sema provided a comprehensive analysis of the historical, socio-cultural, and political dimension of Nagaland politics. He shed light on the role of various stakeholders, including the Naga political groups, government agencies, and civil society, in shaping the political dynamics of the region. 

Prof Sema also spoke on post August 3, 2015 accord Framework Agreement between the Government of India (GOI) and the NSCN (IM) and the Agreed Position between the NNPGs and GOI which was signed on November 17, 2017, on the contentious issue of Shared Sovereignty, Pan Naga Hoho and particularly, the demand for separate Flag and Constitution which has become the bone of contention between the GOI and the NSCN (IM).

The programme was chaired by L Doiong Phom, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science with welcome address by Dr AK Talukder, Principal, Public College and vote of thanks by Renjanbemo N Erui, Assistant professor, Department of Political Science.
