‘Majority decision must prevail’: Lotha Hoho on Naga Solution

Wokha, May 28 (MExN): The Lotha Hoho asserted on Saturday that majority decision must prevail. The Lotha Hoho (LH) Chairman, Mhondamo Ovung and General Secretary, S Aben Ngullie in press statement said, “Naga issue does not pertain to any particular tribe or group alone; but it concerns all Nagas, particularly of Nagaland, and all concerned must raise their voices for the truth.”

“Yes, it is now made plain that Integration, Constitution and Flag are all not feasible in the Phase-I Naga Solution. These issues are to be pursued in the post phase-I settlement, democratically,” it said.

The LH observed that after 25 years of negotiation, most stakeholders are impatient and the process of negotiations has formally completed on October 31, 2019; ‘which is to say that most competencies are finalised and only the loose ends are to be trimmed; for final presentation to the Nagas for acceptance, correction and deletion (if any).’

“The Nagas have for long shed much blood and have endured many storms and are now willing to pursue democratically; whatever unresolved issues remain to be settled. We need to also understand that any settlement cannot satisfy everyone’s aspiration; but majority decision must prevail,” the hoho stated.

The hoho said that it is “fully convinced that whatever Dr SC Jamir, the Naga veteran politician, said about the reality of the Naga Settlement, in his interview with various media outlets, are all facts and what Nagas have to realise and accept.”

‘The same facts have also been explained by other prominent leaders like, Y Patton, Dy Chief Minister, Temjen Imna Along, Minister, Azo Nienu, NPF leader etc, who have conveyed, not their personal views; but the fact of the matter,’ it stated.

The LH also said that it “fully supports the media publications, on the matter, by the Ao Senden, Ungma village, Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, Watsu Mundang, Soyim Students’ Union, Sumi Hoho, AKM etc.”

Meanwhile, it also stated that “the Naga Political Movement has taken roots in the Lotha soil and the Lotha people have sacrificed many lives and have suffered much like any Naga and the Lotha Hoho have fully supported the Naga National Movement and Settlement. Hence, the Lotha people will not allow anyone to mislead the Nagas and all competencies, said to have been finalised, should be presented to the Nagas for acceptance, correction or rejection.”

“The terms “Honourable”, “Acceptable” and “Inclusive” need to be clearly defined any ambiguity to mislead the Nagas is not permissible,” the LH asserted.
