DIMAPUR, JANUARY 12 (MExN): The Mhainamtsi Village Council (MVC) today issued a clarification on the January 10 firing incident. A press release from the MVC said that “many lies and unconfirmed rumours were being circulated,” while claiming that the “firing was started by unknown miscreants…” “Whereas the Mhainamtsi villagers went to clear the jungle for cultivation on that unfortunate day when the miscreants suddenly arrived with automatic guns and deliberately started firing at them continuously for about several minutes,” the MVC said. “Fearing for their precious lives the villagers had to flee from the area, fortunately escaping moments of near death…” it added.
