Is the Nagaland govt doing enough to ensure development reaches all sections of society?

Some of those who voted  YES had this to say:
•    Yes, its obvious
•    Well, judging by the building that are erupting everywhere, it sure seems like the govt is being kept busy. So in one sense from the govt point of view, they will argue that they are getting down to all sections of society. Whereas from the people point of view, this may not be development at all. But lets just say the govt is at least trying to do something, though it should listen more intently to what the people are trying to tell them.
•    Yes, they are doing quite a lot of work and compared to the previous Congress government, at least people are getting something, rather than nothing.

Some of those who voted NO  had this to say:
•    No, I wish MGNREGA is not manipulated by individuals. It should go to the villages as a whole. RD officials should assist villagers more, if not vested individuals will take advantage of the rural poor. It will also be good if RD gives yearly allocation report of funds to villages in local newspapers, so that wily VBDs and VCs will not make a mystery of conceal village funds for their own use. Government must check on village corruption. In some villages, the goanburas and village chairman doesn’t know how much the VBDs are getting. That is the rural scene, urban may be worse. If these are checked, development may reach all to some extent.
•    What possibly can govt do to reach the unreached, but divert funds into their pockets in the name of these unreachables.
•    No, I would go for this, they know how to collapse the money. If they would then it could have done from before, we can see the results with our nakes eyes. Definitely no.
•    Its far from what the govt should really be doing. They dont seem to have a definite road map, and so everything seems very disorganized and it looks like an NGO trying to manage so many projects. The government should realize that it is not an NGO managing various schemes and projects but that the basic duty of the government is to govern the people and this it is not doing so.
•    Implementation is far below the plan and policies
•    Not at all..they have done enuff to make sure that they dont know the root of funds for them.
•    All the big talking but no action.
•    because village and tribal identity has rooted itself deep in the heart of every politician, minister and government official or every naga for that matter to the point that they only care about their own "kind".
•    Every single politician's interest is his own pocket and to see to it that during their tenure how much they can accumulate wealth for their personal benefit.
•    Enough has been done to fatten up the coffers of big shots.
•    In some society, still lacking of educational problems due to low providing materials.
•    Search their pockets first to know the exact answer
•    all the funds are coming from central but almost 70 to 80 %  are missing from the state government. because of this we the common people of this state are starving
•    No, look at the politicians stomach.. full of public money
•    Due 2 selfish n self-centerness
•    coz they never see the backward area.
•    the government has spread its wings farther than the previous govts, but some portion of the society still remains to receive even the basic essentials of the modern life.
•    Our leaders are businessmen disguised as public servants. So naturally they are merely concerned about ensuring their own development
•    The demand for frontier nagaland clearly shows development is not reached in all the areas.
•    Lets be honest the only place where the government of Nagaland has really reached the people is in Kohima district. Beyond Kohima district, everything remains the same way as it was before.
•    Apparently not enough. The government really needs to listen to the dissenting voices. Their power does not come from the fact that the NPF party enjoys a comfortable majority, but their power comes from the people who elected them. So when the people who elected them are not happy with the kind of so called development, they need to take it seriously. IF the electoral system is revised and the people have the power to recall, just imagine, in Nagaland, all the 60 may be recalled back. This is the state of affairs.
•    If so, the question does not arise.
•    just look at the road conditions. its tells the development of the state. few rich politicians and rest struggle without on the holes of the state development. the roads in Eastern NAGALAND is like the development ZERO.
•    No future plans.
•    The government is not sincere in dealing with the public issues.
•    No. Government knows how to full up their pockets. Rather government are preparing for the next general election. TO see how development is going on take the best example of roads, dustbins, irregularity of government employees in offices, school and so on. I am against the government, its not they don’t about the public but the thing is that the government don’t give their full support to the public.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
•    Its quite obvious that the government is not doing enough to ensure that the development reaches all sections of society. There is no reason to question it. But the more concerning aspect is that the Naga public have been mute to these wanton actions of the government and this is the more worrying part of it. When the public keeps silent, it is almost like committing hara-kiri. No, the Naga public must fight back and see that the public money gets to all section of society.
•    I don’t think they are committed to real development. What we see is a very superficial approach where lots and lots and lots of money is being misused in the name of development.
•    The DAN government cannot keep referring back to the Congress regime anymore. This is their second term in office and they are getting the maximum amount of financial assistance, more than any other previous Nagaland state government. They cannot complain on that front. But seriously, I don’t think the money they are getting is well distributed. It seems like it is being arbitrarily misused at all levels by the politicians, bureaucrats and junior administrators and village representatives. Anna Hazare should come to Nagaland.
•    The past, present or perhaps future govts may never have been doing enough on all-round development on all fronts in the true sense of the terms but it doesn’t mean that the needle of blame as always pointing towards govt, albeit blameworthy, for every woe in society. The Naga public also need to individually and collectively play a pro-active role in every development process at all stages, then only the fruits of the development reaches all n sundry of the society. The Naga intellectuals instead of sitting around the kitchen table and lambasting the govt and bureaucracy or for that matter UGs of being perverse, greedy, self-seeking etc, need to think better of a flawed state of affairs by thinking out of the box if we really care about our fellow Nagas who are less fortunate and down-trodden through no fault of their own. Come 2013, regardless of wealth, political affiliations, dynasty, etc I wish we can elect our respective best MLAs or is it if wishes were horses, beggars wild ride!
