National seminar on ‘Smart Banking and Agri Finance’ held

Sovima, September 27 (MExN): The Department of Commerce and Management, Tetso College conducted a two-day national seminar on ‘Smart Banking and Agri Finance: A Way to Empower the Indigenous Community and Beyond’ sponsored by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) on September 26 and 27.

On the first day, the welcome address was presented by Amar Ranjan Dey, Asst. Dean, School of Business and Economics, Tetso College where he provided an introduction about NABARD to the audience. The keynote address of the session was delivered by Dr Subit Dutta, Head i/c, Asst. Professor, Department of Commerce, Assam University who shared his knowledge and opinion about bank diversification and various models adapted by banks for their diversification. 

The guest of honour, Gautam Gurung, spoke about smart banking and the various technologies adapted by the bank to improve their services.

The technical session was conducted on the second day in the presence of Dr M Balamurugan as the session chair, Lanuakum Longkumer as the Moderator and Dr Debrata Sutradhar as the rapporteur. Altogether six people presented on various topics such as ‘Performance of the State Bank of India in Providing Agricultural Credit: A Case Study on Golaghat District of Assam,’ A Study on the Impact of Financial Literature on Education on the Citizens of Nagaland,’ etc. There was a question and answer session after every presentation where the participants raised questions. The concluding remark on the research paper was given by Dr M. Balamurugan on ‘Financial Literacy and Financial Education.’
