Advisor Sukhalu inaugurates SAKK 47th biennial conference

Zunheboto, January 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resource (NECTAR) project, among others, was envisaged to bring about the improvement in the management, improvement in teaching and learning in targeted schools, stated Advisor School Education, K T Sukhalu on January 12. 

The project, which the department came up with the assistance of World Bank, is also aimed at improving the pass rate for target schools in higher classes, he added, after inaugurating the SAKK (Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu) 47th Biennial Conference in Tukuliqa Village on Wednesday. 

The three-day SAKK conference is being held under the theme “Let us reason together.” 

The Advisor further noted that the project is expected to pilot several innovations in teacher management, community-accountability and improving classroom transactions.

The project will develop and implement innovative models for technology integration, decentralised management of education system, and community driven accountability mechanisms, he added. 

Giving a background to the project, he maintained that education system in Nagaland was facing several challenges and this was reflected in the decline of student learning outcomes measured by National Achievement Survey (NAS). 

As per Government of India’s Unified District Information System for  Education (UDISE), the total number of government schools from primary to higher secondary as per 2021 is 1953 with 19,079 teachers and total enrollment of 1,66,091 students, he informed. 

In this context, he said that the project is aimed at improving management, teaching and learning outcomes in targeted schools. 

Meanwhile, Sukhalu said achieving something in life depends on concerned individual and urged the youths to change their mindset to move forward. 

Development is necessary but the most important thing in life is to be wise and follow the dreams according to one’s liking and interest, he maintained. 

Calling upon the youth have a purpose in life, be sincere and not lose their tracks, the Avisor further urged for working with honesty, integrity and responsibility and bring a change in the society. 

As per a DIPR report, the inaugural event also featured a special song by Jennifer Wotsa as well as cultural dance by Ghokimi Cultural troupe.
