‘NSCN (IM) stands for peaceful solution’

Condemns ‘selective reportage’

Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Sunday clarified that it stands for peaceful solution of the Indo-Naga political issue.

The NSCN (IM) said that a particular sentence from the Nagalim Voice August 2020 Editorial had been “sensationalized” in a news article of a national daily.

The sentence “They are still ready to fight another war if their political rights and history are not respected” had allegedly been titled “NSCN-IM: Nagas ready for fresh ‘war’” on September 3 and had gone viral on social media, according to the MIP statement.

Terming it a “selective war mongering reportage,” the NSCN (IM) condemned it “with all sincerity.”

In this regard, the NSCN (IM) asserted that it stands for peaceful solution.

That was the reason how the Second Indo-Naga Ceasefire was brought about in 1997, it added.

“But it is a matter of regret that the Government of India has failed to demonstrate the desired sincerity and commitment despite 23 years of peace talks. This is the crux of the ongoing talks,” the statement added.

The NSCN (IM) further said that the Government of India must revisit the hard earned achievements of the Indo-Naga peace process and push forward in the desired direction to bring solution that is honorable and acceptable to both the parties.

Meanwhile, the MIP, in another statement  (see page 6) on September 5 claimed that propagandists are “targeting Muivah and NSCN” to create “confusion, division and create fear psychosis.”

“However, the Naga people are no longer naive to this kind of manipulated media onslaught,” it added.
