‘NTUK, NTTU are two different entities’

Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): The Naga Timber union, Kohima(NTUK) and the Nagaland Timber Traders Union (NTTU) are two "entirely different and independent entities, and neither is affiliated to the other, nor are linked by any organization", other than being in the same line of timber business, clarified the NTUK.

The NTUK in its emergency meeting held on September 10, had in-depth deliberation to ascertain the facts as to the recent write-ups, published in the local dailies, purportedly by its President, stated a press note issued by General Secretary Joseph Sekhose and member Ikobe Zeliang.

“It is deemed to be fair and proper to lay the established fasts bare, for the benefit of all concerned and the public at large, and urge all parties to bury the unfortunate episode, once and for all,” it stated.

It also clarified that NTUK has extended issue based support to the NTTU, and vice-versa, in matters of legitimate common interests and matters affecting the welfare of timber traders in general.NTUK would continue to extend and solicit  issue based support to any like minded organization, for the common weal. Moreover, the President NTUK, Thekrupa Angami was telephonically contacted by the NTTU, soliciting support for pursuing matters of common interest, to which he readily agreed. “But he categorically denied issuing any press statement nor gave his assent to any publications, let alone, leveling charges and allegations against any Politician or Bureaucrat. He completely disowns the statements attributed to him and regrets the unfortunate episode.”

Further it also said the NTUK is constituted of fellow Naga Brethren, trying to make an honest living and supporting numerous dependents by rendering services to the society at large. It has also appealed to the Government, Department of Forest and the pubic at large to support and extend their sympathy, in the numerous hardships it faces everyday, in contributing our mite to the society.
