Proposed overhauling of school education dept a right direction: RPP

Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) today stated that the proposed overhauling of School Education Department in Nagaland is in the right direction and lauded the “honest admission” by its Advisor Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome that the department is in a “total mess.”

Unlike many leaders who have made a habit of shoving ills under the rug, the Advisor has set a note-worthy precedent which hopefully will inspire other politicians to follow suit, it said.

The RPP had made it clear on various occasions that the School Education Department is the “worst managed and most corrupted in the state,” it maintained.

While various Ministers and Advisors have come and gone unmindful of the health of the department, the present Advisor’s health report is a “severe indictment” of his predecessors, it added.

As the Advisor has also asserted that teacher recruitment cannot be done through NPSC or NSSB, the RPP would like to reiterate that the department set up Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRB), as was first in 2022, it added.

The RPP also stressed that all interview of potential teachers should be carried out by empanelled university professors and “under no circumstances” it is conducted like any other departmental recruitment.

It further appealled the Advisor to remove the post of Principal Director as it serves “no exceptional purpose other than to render the office of the directorate redundant.”

“The post of PD has only made domain experts like the Director of the department a rubber stamp,” it contended.
