Tuensang: 22 churches take part in BYFTT sports meet

The three-day sports meet of Baptist Youth Front Tuensang Town (BYFTT) town base was held at Parade Ground, Tuensang from October 22 to 24.

Youths from 22 churches took part in the event accompanied by their youth pastors and leaders.

Some of the sports and activities during the event were football, handball, tug-of-war, tunnel race, filling up the water, sack race, pass the marble and scripture readings.

The participants were divided into sic groups, Mount Carmel (red), Mount Zion (Green), Mount Olive (Yellow), Mount Sinai (Pink), Mount Nebo (Blue) and Mount Hermon (White). Mount Sinai (Pink) was declared the overall champion of the sports meet.

The prizes were given away by Thrijungla, General Secretary, BYFTT and closing remark and benediction was led by Ben Chuba, President, BYFTT.

The opening ceremony on October 22 was graced by Dr Ato Tunyi, Physiotherapist, District Hospital Tuensang as special guest.

In his speech he highlighted the importance of sports activity for good health. He commented that sports as a career is also on the rise and several platforms are also being provided by the state and central government. He added that God must be made the first priority in everything they do.

The programme was hosted by Ajong, General Secretary, BYFTT while the invocation prayer was pronounced by Tovishe Sumi, Associate Pastor Youth, Sumi Baptist Church, Tuensang.

Youths from Sangtam Baptist Church, Tuensang performed the opening act while the welcome address was delivered by Ben Chuba, President, BYFTT.
