A two-day long Tribute Concert under the auspices of Naga Musicians Collective (NMC) concluded this evening at The Heritage, Kohima.


The concert featured host band NMC; Squadron; Methaneilie Jütakhrie Solo; Bluetone; DGP Band; Alemtemshi Jamir,IAS (Retd); Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire; K Kire, IPS (Retd); Linda Solo; Boulie Whuorie; Narola Jati; Lima Ozukum; Ato Nienu; Kethoser; Rukuse Sakhrie; Vito Awomi etc.


This concert mark the coming together of various veteran musicians to pay respects through music in loving memory of those departed musicians friends.


Established on July 4, 2009 in Kohima, NMC aim to promote music in general and to give a common platform to the musicians in Nagaland.


The event was supported by Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) and co-sponsored by Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), KK Motors, All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) and other individual sponsors.


Meanwhile, the NMC conferred NMC award for excellence in music to Methaneilie Jutakhrie Solo of T Khel, Kohima village in recognition of his contribution towards the progress and development of music in Nagaland.
Methaneilie has about 200 original songs to his credit. His undying love for music continues to make impact, having the credit of lifetime contribution of 25 albums to his feat.


Another recipient of the award is Silas Kikon of Lakhuti village, Wokha district. The award was given posthumously.
Silas was the most popular singer during from 80s till 20th century among his contemporary singers and legendary singer of his time.


He was famously remembered for his hits songs ‘Choro Kupi’ and his contribution towards the promotion of Lotha songs in this modern era. He passed away on June 25, 2016.
