UGs should reconcile in mutual trust: NPCC

Dimapur, Nov 28 (MExN): The NPCC today asserted that “on several occasions, the Congress party had suggested that the Political Parties of all shades of opinion in the State should jointly put their efforts to mould up the people’s view to express in a consolidated manner without fear so as to create understanding and peaceful co-existence within the people and extend effective support issue acceptable to all sections of the Naga people.” A release issued by TL Merry, NPCC spokesperson reiterated that Underground Groups must reconcile in mutual trust. Advocating the need to involve political parties of different hues in the discussions for peace, the release stated, “Even while the present DAN Government had formed a Consultative Committee for Peace (CCP) after coming to power, the Congress party was not included.”

The Congress further said the CCP should have been dissolved much earlier “as it has not been able to achieve anything rather created more misunderstanding while tackling the real issue during the DAN Government’s almost three years reign.”

“The contradictory statement of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio regarding the prevailing economic blockade in Noklak and Longkhim/Chare that it is a local problem and no underground group was involved while tribal leaders from the district are meeting the underground leaders to lift the blockade is derogatory in nature,” the release said.  According to the NPCC, Rio should immediately act and direct the District Administration to rescue the people from the economic blockade by restoring free passage of trucks with essential commodities into the area.
