The second edition of the Spring Badminton Championship 2022 got underway at Babu Tzübo (Amphitheater), Ungma, Mokokchung on April 26. It is organized by the Soyim Shuttlers, Ungma, Mokokchung.
The opening ceremony was graced by Temsuchuba Jamir, SDO (C), Mokokchung. He congratulated the Soyim Shuttlers for organizing such a beautiful tournament and giving platform to the upcoming players especially the young shuttlers to showcase their talents.
He said that the tournament experience is altogether a different experience where the metal set up and the environment is different. He urged the sister badminton organization in Mokokchung to organize such events.
He also said that Mokokchung has a good community of young talents who have the capacity to reach even the national level and that they should not miss any opportunities and make us of it.
He concluded by saying that sports can also be a career oriented profession and nothing is impossible in life if you have the desire and the zeal to achieve what you dream.
The welcome address was proposed by Alimayang Jamir, President, Soyim shuttlers.
The Championship has 66 participants 87 male and 9 female players representing the entire district of Mokokchung including players from Kohima district. Altogether 61 matches will be played in various categories which include
Under 17 boys single, Mixed doubles , Men's doubles , 75 + men's doubles and 95 + men's doubles.
