Kohima, July 18 (MExN): With a view to create better knowledge on the benefits, scope and profession of traditional music among the young students, the Vikehie Welfare Society (VWS) Viswema today conducted a Rich Cultural Seminar on promotion of  Music at John Higher Secondary School Viswema.

The resource persons for the seminar were Ketobu Vitsu and Zholezo Pucho.

Speaking on the occasion, Vitsu, while stressing on the importance of music in today’s world, said that the students should have interest in music while also keeping priority on their studies.

He also stated that the students should not neglect their traditional musical instruments but rather learn to play them with original songs.

Another resource person, Pucho  stated that during the olden days people sang and played musical instruments for merry making and during festivals with no wider scope but now in an advanced world a person can make music a career if one has the potential even up to the national and international levels.

The resource persons further stressed on the importance of traditional music instruments like Tati and asked the students to learn to preserve and pass on to younger generations.

The programme was led by Khruthonu, invocation prayer by Vimetwel Kikhi, deacon Viswema CRC while vote of thanks was proposed by Khrureto Kikhi.
