909 power theft cases detected in 2014-15

909 cases of power theft were detected and penalties imposed to the tune of Rs. 11.3 lakhs during the period 2014-15. This was stated in the annual administrative report 2016-17 of the Power Department tabled in the just concluded state assembly session by Minister of Power, C. Kipili Sangtam. The report stated that the department had initiated the Anti Power Theft Mobile Squad (APTMS) in the year 2013-14 and had proven to be useful in prevention of power theft. Meanwhile, Nagaland villages and households electrification has achieved a lot with implementation of the centrally sponsored scheme: Deen Dayal Upadhya Yojana, the report claimed. It informed that 81 un-electrified villages along with 2 Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana villages have been electrified, which will enable electricity access to 4743 rural households.
