AR ex-servicemen rally held in Dimapur

Dimapur, October 21 (MExN): With an aim to reach out to veterans and continue to strengthen bond with them, 32 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (North) and 6 Sector Assam Rifles conducted Assam Rifles ex-servicemen rally at its camp in Dimapur on October 20.   The rally provided the ex-servicemen an opportunity to resolve their grievances related to pensions, canteen facilities, medical and other related issues, informed a press release from Assam Rifles. The event included stalls manned by representatives of the pension cell, record branch, pay and allowance office, Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA), State Bank of India, and ICICI Bank. In addition, stalls for Aadhaar Card, Postal Branch, Employment Forum, Canteen Smart Card and a Canteen outlet was also set up.   A medical camp was also held, where there were eye specialist, ENT specialist and dentist and free medicines were disbursed. A ‘General Grievance Cell’ was also established to address specific problems faced by AR ex-servicemen and grievances were registered.   Addressing the gathering, Deputy Inspector General, 6 Sector Assam Rifles said that the well being of ex-servicemen is of utmost significance for the Assam Rifles and assured that all measures to ensure the welfare of the ex-servicemen are being instituted. He also interacted with large number of ex-servicemen and assured the gathering that all issues highlighted by them will be taken up appropriately.   Meanwhile, chief guest Elizabeth, ADC Dimapur in her address lauded the AR for looking after the welfare of their jawans not only while they are in the service but also when they have retired. She hoped that their efforts would benefit the brave veterans in resolving their problems and will further strengthen the bond within the organisation. She also said that the civil administration will extend full co-operation to the organisation in order to have better relation and conducive environment in Dimapur.   366 ex-servicemen and 364 dependents of the ex-servicemen of Dimapur and Peren attended the rally, where two Veer Naris and one battle casualty of Dimapur and Peren districts were also felicitated.
