AR undertakes civic action programmes across Nagaland

Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): Assam Rifles battalions under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized various civic action programmes across the state.  

The 9 AR organised awareness campaign, counseling classes and screened a documentary movie on HIV/AIDS at Nerhe Model Village under Chiephobozou sub division, Kohima district on August 2.  

The event, organised in collaboration with KRIPA Foundation, focused on HIV/AIDS and drug abuse. Around 120 people including VCCs, GBs and youth from various villages in Chiephobozou sub-division participated.  

During the event, Bendang, Coordinator, RRTC NE - II, KRIPA Foundation emphasized on substance abuse of drugs, alcohol and narcotics, while Shan Ezung, Programme Officer, VIHAAN Nagaland/ NNP educated the gathering on HIV/AIDS, a press release informed.  

The 36 AR also conducted a lecture on HIV/AIDS at Heraka Secondary School, Tening on August 5. A total of 30 students attended the lecture. A ‘drawing cum poster making competition’ was also organized by 36 AR at Assam Rifles Public School, Jalukie, Peren on August 5.  

A debate competition on HIV/AIDS was also organised by the 32 AR at Mount Hermon School, Dimapur on August 5. The competition saw the participation of 12 students from various age groups.  

The 7 AR organised a lecture and screening of documentary movie on AIDS at Cambridge School, Kiphire on August 2. A total of 80 students along with teachers and staff attended the event, a separate release informed.  

The 9 AR also conducted a lecture on ‘Career Counseling’ at Pfutsero Government College on July 29 with an aim to create awareness about employment opportunities in various fields including the defence forces for both men and women. A total of 105 students from third semester and five teaching staff attended the counseling session during which the youth were informed about the life and work of Armed Forces personnel, accompanying facilities, pay and allowances.  

Meanwhile, the 44 AR conducted an interaction cum awareness programme for the students of World Hope Baptist Bible College, Tuli, Mokokchung on August 3. Students were apprised about the day to day routine in the life of a soldier and how they are continuously providing a helping hand towards nation building. The 44 AR also organised a drawing competition for students of Mission School at Changki, Mokokchung on August 5.  

The 41 AR organised a lecture cum extempore competition at Cosmopolitan Higher Secondary School, Chumukedima on August 2. During the lecture, the significance and importance of Independence for the citizens of the country were highlighted. The 41 AR also organised a ‘drawing cum poster making competition’ at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Zubza on August 4. The aim of the event was to educate the students about the effect of global warming and pollution on our environment. A total of 70 students of various age groups participated in the competition.  

A debate competition was organised by the 36 AR at Christian Senior Secondary School, Athibung, Peren on August 4. A total of 80 students witnessed the participants express their views on the topic “India as Emerging Super Power”.  

The 32 AR conducted an interaction with GBs at Tening village, Peren on August 3. During the interaction, issues like development projects and other government schemes were discussed. GBs were asked to encourage villagers to avail maximum benefit from the schemes. Eight GBs from Tening and neighbouring villages attended the interaction.  

The 15 AR organized a tree plantation drive at Noklak Town on July 22. A total of 40 saplings were planted during the drive which was attended by 35 children from Holy Angel’s School, Noklak.  

Another plantation drive was carried out by the 15 AR at Dan Village on August 4. 20 local youth and villagers participated in the drive where a total of 40 saplings were planted.  

The 15 AR also organized an interaction cum awareness programme with the youths at Shamator on August 5. Altogether, 35 youths participated in the event during which they were encouraged to join the Armed Forces and given information about various entries for recruitment.
