Assam Rifles battalions organise activities

Dimapur, March 14 (MExN): Assam Rifles battalions under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised various events in different places of Nagaland.  

Kiphire: Kiphire battalion of Assam Rifles organised a pulse polio immunisation and free medical check up at Zimkiur village in Kiphire district on March 11. A team of doctor, pharmacist and Nursing Assistant of the unit organised the polio immunisation where 104 children were immunised, informed a press release from HQ IGAR (N). In addition, a total of 85 men and 70 women were provided medical examination and free medicines were given to the ailing patients.  

Kohima: Chieswema battalion carried out an interaction with village GBs/ councils members of several villages and RD Block under Kezocha sub-division on March 14. The villagers and council members brought out issues pertaining to the development, employment of youths, education and health, AR stated.  

The battalion also organised free medical camp at Botsa village on March 14. A specially constituted medical team under 2IC (CMO) C Satyaranjan examined, treated and provided free medicines to the villagers and also conducted screening of diabetes. 2IC C Satyaranjan also held a lecture on ‘Healthy Life’ to impart basic health education on precautions from viral disease, importance of hygiene and sanitation, and HIV/ AIDS.  

Phek: Chieswema battalion carried out an interaction with Chizami, Thetsumi, Enhulumi, Gwazutomi, and Sumi Village GBs/councils at Chizami in Phek district on March 12. Issues pertaining to local people and region, including infrastructure development, health and education, were discussed, according to the press release. The village leaders were also briefed about the upcoming Army recruitment rally and exhorted to motivate youth to join the armed forces, it added.  

Phek battalion of Assam Rifles meanwhile installed four solar lights at Avangkhu village on March 8.  

Tuensang: Shamator battalion organised a musical concert with the theme ‘No to Drugs, Yes to Prosperity’ in Shamator on March 11. A joint endeavour of the battalion’s Jazz band and the youth of the town, the event also showcased various awareness stalls like pulse polio immunisation, ‘Know your Assam Rifles’ stall with display of weapons, government welfare schemes awareness stall, and recruitment awareness stall to spread awareness about recruitment rally scheduled in Tuensang.  

The Shamator battalion also organised a volleyball match between the team of AR and citizens of New Chingmei, Chendang, C Saddle clubs at C Saddle village on March 11. The match was followed by prize distribution ceremony and informal interaction with the villagers.  

The AR battalion meanwhile organised medical camp at Dan village on March 12, which was attended by 124 villagers.  

Mon: At Ukha in Mon district, Assam Rifles battalion conducted a medical camp on March 11. A total of 442 patients were examined and given free medicines, while 85 children were also given polio drops.  

Assam Rifles also organised a friendly volleyball match with local team of Chenloisho village on March 11. Post match Assam Rifles briefed the youth about the importance of physical fitness in life and motivated them to prepare and participate in the Army recruitment rally scheduled to be held in Tuensang.  

Zunheboto: Zunheboto battalion of Assam Rifles organised an awareness programme on ‘Employment opportunities in the Armed Forces’ at Akuluto on March 11. Students were briefed about the upcoming recruitment rally of Army & CAPF, informed AR press note. AR assured the youth of all possible help about training and registration.
